Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in public health, epidemiology, biology, mathematics, statistics, biostatistics, social sciences, or a related field and three years of professional post-degree research experience in that field; or, a Master’s degree in one of the above fields and two years of such experience; or a Doctorate in one of the above fields.

QUALIFICATIONS
Experience in the management and analysis of large primary and secondary administrative data, and reporting data analysis and research results to technical and non-technical audiences. Excellent organizational skills, strong interpersonal skills and competencies in teamwork and collaborative research with analytical, critical thinking and scientific writing skills. High level of proficiency in SAS programming (especially joining and analyzing large Oracle tables), SQL programming, Access, Excel, PowerPoint and Microsoft Word. Experience with Geographical Information System (GIS) software. Proficient with MS Office, familiar with Outlook and SharePoint.

Duties Description The Research Scientist 2 (RS2) will serve in the Data and Program Evaluation Unit in the Bureau of Early Intervention, and will be responsible for developing research questions, implementing quantitative analyses of data, and preparing reports of findings in papers and presentations for stakeholders. The Research Scientist 2 will assist with the preparation of these articles, as well as to assist with the preparation and presentation of the information for professional conferences. The Research Scientist 2 will work with Bureau staff as well as county officials and early intervention providers to identify, analyze and report on key data that impact child and family outcomes to meet federal and state targets for performance and to improve the timeliness and quality of services for children eligible for the early intervention program and their families.

Additional Comments Permanent, full-time, non-competitive appointment. Travel, including travel to areas which may not be served by public transportation, is required.
