Duties Description The Criminal Justice Policy Analyst 1 will be assigned to the Office of Youth Justice (OYJ), and will report to a Criminal Justice Policy Analyst 2, SG-23. The incumbent will conduct research and analysis on various criminal justice programs and policies to assist with the implementation of Raise the Age in New York State. The CJPA1 will be responsible for the following duties:

• Assisting with the review and analysis of existing policies and the development of new policies and regulations for probation professionals in New York State to account for Raise the Age (RTA) legislative requirements;
• Reviewing and analyzing juvenile/youth justice related data from various sources to identify trends, disparities, and areas for improvement;
• Analyzing the impact of legislative proposals on youth justice and DCJS policies and procedures and making recommendations on any necessary action;
• Analyzing statewide data disaggregated by race and ethnicity pertaining to justice involved youth, in order to support informed decision making;
• Assisting with the Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Expression (SOGIE) research and data collection initiative designed to identify SOGIE justice system involved youth and implement policies regarding identification and engagement;
• Coordinating the reporting and collection of performance measures and other outcome data from grantees for inclusion in various reports. Preparing a variety of statistical reports to support the Raise the Age implementation and monitoring;
• Overseeing various Juvenile Justice Advisory Board funded projects and serving as the program area lead during the administration of these projects convening and advising both internal and external stakeholders;
• Identifying training and technical assistance needs of juvenile justice systems practitioners and local boards, and developing and providing training and technical assistance strategies as directed;




• Providing technical assistance and guidance in the development and management of contracts for consultants related to improving juvenile/youth justice practices in NYS;
• Assisting with Juvenile Justice Delinquency Prevention Act (JJDPA) compliance;
• Developing presentations based on the review and analysis of various data sets pertaining to the juvenile/youth justice population;
• Developing and Coordinating Statewide RED training in conjunction with state partners and technical assistance providers;
• Aiding the nine Regional Youth Justice Teams RED sub-committees, and attending the quarterly meetings; identifying areas for practice improvement and providing technical input regarding policy proposals to state policymakers;
• Working with external stakeholders from various localities who have agreed to participate on the Regional Youth Justice Teams;
• Preparing various reports, including working on the annual Juvenile Justice Advisory Group report, the JJDPA annual funding application, and any other reports and funding applications as they arise;
• Developing the content and program requirements for Request for Proposals (RFPs), reviewing funding applications from prospective grantees, and overseeing programmatic content in contract development; and
• Completing special projects as needed.
