Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Public or Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Statistics/Biostatistics,
Environmental Science, OR related field, AND four years of full-time, professional
experience in an appropriate field; OR a Master’s degree AND three years of
such experience; OR a doctorate in the appropriate field AND one year of such experience.

Graduate degree in Public or Environmental Health, Epidemiology, Statistics/Biostatistics, Environmental Science or closely related field. Demonstrated proficiency in the collection, management, linkage, and statistical analysis of environmental and human health data. Experience using Geographical Information Systems, SAS, R, and other statistical software. Experience conducting spatial, time series, survival analysis, and other advanced statistical methods. Applied knowledge of environmental, occupational, hazard, and/or reproductive epidemiologic research; exposure assessment and public health surveillance; and examining environmental risk factors for disease. Excellent written and oral communication skills for diverse audiences along with strong analytical, organizational and interpersonal skills. Experience working with large databases is also desirable.

Duties Description The Research Scientist 3 will join a strong scientific research team in the Bureau of Environmental & Occupational Epidemiology. The incumbent will be responsible for supporting all phases of epidemiological research and surveillance, including; problem definition, study design, executing research plans, acquiring and managing project data, statistical analyses, interpreting and summarizing findings, and disseminating results in presentations, reports, and publications. The incumbent will participate in various environmental, occupational, hazard, and reproductive health studies and investigations to examine patterns, trends, risks, and causes of disease.

Additional Comments Contingent-permanent, non-competitive, full-time. Occasional travel, including overnights and travel to areas not served by public transportation is required.
