The Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor is a continuous recruitment examination. To qualify for the examination, you must have a current Commission on Rehabilitation Counselor Certification (CRCC) certificate OR a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling, including a supervised internship from a Council on Rehabilitation Education (CORE) accredited program OR a master's degree in rehabilitation counseling or counseling and notice of eligibility to sit for the CRCC certificate examination.

Employees of ACCES-VR who are currently in a Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor position and are interested in transferring to a location listed on this flyer MUST apply for the position as outlined in the Application section of this flyer.
Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of Adult Career and Continuing Education Services – Vocational Rehabilitation (ACCES-VR) is seeking candidates to fill three Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor positions in the Buffalo, Mid-Hudson (Poughkeepsie), and Rochester District Offices. The incumbents of these positions will work as part of a team to assist persons with disabilities to attain employment and educational and/or independent living goals. Duties of these positions include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Manage a caseload including writing case notes and maintaining supporting documentation;
• Determine eligibility;
• Develop employment goal and Individualized Plan for Employment;
• Purchase goods and services as needed for individuals to reach their employment goal;
• Coordinate the resources of the family, community and specialists; and
• Determine case closure.
Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: These will be contingent permanent or permanent appointments. Promotions and transfers may change appointees’ negotiating unit. Applicants should be aware that changes in negotiating units may affect their salary, insurance, and other benefits. *Leads to a maximum salary of $75,785 through annual performance advances.
