Minimum Qualifications One year of trade experience subsequent to the completion of an apprenticeship or equivalent training and experience such as that required for a Carpenter, Construction Equipment Mechanic, Electrician, Electronic Equipment Mechanic, General Mechanic, Grounds Construction Supervisor, Locksmith, Machinist, Mason and Plasterer, Motor Equipment Mechanic, Painter, Plumber and Steamfitter, Refrigeration Mechanic, Roofer and Tinsmith, or Welder. Possession of a valid New York State driver’s license is preferred, but not required, for this position.

Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill a Maintenance Supervisor 1, Grade 14, position within the Bureau of Environmental Design and Improvement, located in West Brentwood. This position will serve as the Pilgrim Special Projects Team Supervisor. The Pilgrim Special Projects Team travels between all locations managed by the Pilgrim PC administration, completing work identified as critical and necessary. The incumbent will provide supervisory functions to the team responsible for projects which are essential to providing a safe, therapeutic environment of care to all OMH clients. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to the following:
Coordinate and provide technical direction to Revite team members who may be responsible for electrical, plumbing, carpentry, masonry, and other tasks as needed.
Monitor work quality and productivity of all assigned general mechanics, maintenance assistants and/or laborers.
Provide supervisory functions, including preparing team work schedules, conducting inventory, and providing payroll and daily team reports. Will be responsible for monitoring attendance and work quality and ensuring that the team has sufficient resources to achieve its goals.
Ensure safety procedures and life/safety protocols are followed by team members at all times.
Respond and provide guidance during emergency evacuations, flooding and storm damage and other types of emergencies as needed.
Recommend budget requirements for the facility’s maintenance programs including staffing, materials and equipment needs.
Prepare material cost estimates; order and inventory materials and equipment as needed.
Possess a working knowledge of local and NYS building codes as well as the knowledge of methods and materials of the construction trades.
