Minimum Qualifications This position is open to candidates who are reachable on the Information Technology Specialist 4, G-25, Civil Service eligible list OR have one year of permanent competitive service as an Information Technology Specialist 4, G-25. As well as those deemed eligible for transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law. The transfer cannot be a second, consecutive transfer resulting in an advancement of more than two grades. In order to qualify for a Section 52.6 transfer, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service in a qualifying administrative title such as Information Technology Specialist 3 (Data Communications), G-23, Information Technology Specialist 3 (Database), G-23 and Information Technology Specialist 3 (Systems Programming), G-23.

Required Qualifications:
• Understanding of software product and operating system architecture
• Knowledge of SQL and Oracle database concepts
• Knowledge of file system backup and recovery procedures
• Knowledge of memory, disk, and processor monitoring and tuning techniques
• Strong skills in operating system scripting
• Ability to set realistic goals and balance multiple priorities
• Ability to lead a technical team of internal and external resources
• Ability to work collaboratively across project teams
• Ability to plan and organize development work and deliverables
• Ability to learn new technologies and processes quickly
• Ability to work off hours when necessary to perform maintenance activities

Preferred Qualifications:
• Experience as a senior level system administrator
• Experience administering Oracle BI software

Duties Description As part of the Technology Division, in the Statewide Financial System (SFS), the incumbent will work in the Software Administration Bureau. The incumbent will be responsible for the installation, tuning and administration of the SFS business intelligence (BI) software products including Oracle BI Enterprise Edition, Oracle BI Applications, and Oracle Data Integrator; in an environment consisting of PeopleSoft applications, Oracle database and AIX operating system.

Duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Plan the BI product implementation and installation
• Work with server and network service providers
• Install and configure Oracle BI software
• Plan and apply regular software maintenance
• Develop system level monitoring and operational procedures
• Produce system documentation
• Provide software administrative support for the BI platform
• Troubleshoot and resolve problems with the BI software platform
• Work with other SFS bureaus to meet SFS project objectives
• Maintain multiple BI environments supporting the SFS configuration and migration landscape
