Minimum Qualifications Seven or more years of experience as an infrastructure project technical lead at an Enterprise level with a proven ability to deliver projects on schedule and on budget. Must be familiar with project planning, statement of work (SOW) and scheduling, work breakdown structure (WBS), project documentation techniques, change control management and escalation process. Ability to effectively communicate with and manage the work of a diverse technical team is essential. Must be flexible to respond to rapidly changing priorities while maintaining focus and schedule. High level familiarity of multiple infrastructure technologies such as those listed below are a must:

• LAN/WAN network infrastructure services

• Data Center networking services

• Windows/Active Directory

• Unix, Linux and AIX

The following degrees, preferably in Computer Science, may substitute for the general experience as indicated:

• Associate’s degree and four years of experience

• Associate’s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science and three years of experience

• Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience

• Bachelor’s degree including 15 semester credit hours in computer science and two years of experience

• Master’s degree in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional year of experience

• Doctorate in computer science or related field substitutes for an additional 2 years of experience

Preferred Qualifications:

In addition to the project technical lead background, the ideal candidate will have:

• Bachelor’s degree in the field of Information Technology/Computer Science.

• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.

• Proven experience with the State purchasing process.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Director of Information Technology Services M-6, within the Technology Transformation Unit in the Chief Operations Office (COO) in Albany, NY, the Project Coordinator will serve as lead Project Manager for the Technology Transformation team. The Project Coordinator position will coordinate all project and budget efforts of the diverse and disparate teams of NYS employees and contractors in achieving the goals of the technology transformation initiative Specific duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

• Creates or oversees the creation of detailed project plans to ensure the technology transformation team can successfully deliver comprehensive, integrated, reliable, high-quality services for ITS;

• Work with other ITS teams as required to ensure legacy networks and servers are transformed to ITS standards and are leveraging ITS security, compliance and access methods;

• Manages the budget for the technology transformation team as it relates to the transformation initiatives, leveraging ITS security, compliance and access methods;

• Informs the Director of any budget requirements related to the technology transformation initiatives;

• Participates in the leadership and management of the Information Technology (IT) division to help achieve the goals of the technology transformation initiative;

• Follows ITS policies in order to allocate technology transformation initiative resources in an efficient and effective manner;

• Recommends training and development of current and new staff to ensure that they are able to exercise initiative and work creatively when confronted with the unique challenges of implementing the goals of the technology transformation initiative

• Engages in a planned program of professional development, coordinated with ITS goals and responsibilities, to maintain continual growth in professional skills and knowledge required for successful completion of the initiative.

• Sets achievable, yet high, aspirations for project services and operations.

• Performs the full range of supervisory responsibilities as required.
