Program Technology Support and Health Safety - Addendum
Within one year of appointment, prospective candidate must successfully complete and receive certification for the CPR, First Aid and AED Instructor from the American Red Cross for the Professional Rescuer and Healthcare Providers or American Heart Association Basic Life Support for Healthcare Providers or equivalent.

Duties Description A. Participate in the development of guidance documents contained in the Bureau’s Summer Recreation Handbook. Offer your experience and expertise to the Bureau’s Guidance Committee.
B. Cooperate with other Bureau staff in the development and presentation of training for Campground and Day-Use area staff. The topics will include staffing, maintenance and operations of our facilities, the use of the reservation and financial reporting system, Health and Safety issues, security and law enforcement protocols, emergency response procedures, CPR/AED use and sexual harassment.
C. Provide “Help Desk” services with regards to the reservation and financial accounting systems, hardware and software issues to campground and regional staff during camping season. Function as System Administrator for the Department’s Campground Facility Reservation Systems; providing User ID’s and passwords, creating user access accounts and terminating such accounts as required. Test all system updates for functionality prior to being placed in service.
D. Serve as a team member between DEC, OPRHP and Reservation Service Contractor. Work alongside and function with team on reservation system operations troubleshooting, advising, and training Department staff on all issues. Maintain an accurate inventory and information system for campground reservations, including notices, alerts, and updates. Develop troubleshooting guide for system users. Track and report all issues with Reservation System and ensure problems are corrected by the vendor. Assist in the preparation of vendor evaluations for the reservation system.
E. Test contractor developed reservation system updates for functionality prior placement in service. Develop and maintain inventory packets for all Bureau facilities including but not limited to updates for emergency closures etc. Advise campground patrons in the use of the Campground Reservation System as required. Work with community and educational groups in obtaining accommodations in DEC facilities.
F. Assist in the development of the Bureau’s marketing, events and special promotional projects. Promotion campaigns may be working in conjunction with other DEC bureaus, NYS Office of Parks and Recreation, Reservation System Contractor and other involved entities. Assist with the maintenance of the Division’s web pages. Act as the Bureau’s Special Events and Projects (State Fair, Gift Cards, Facility Openings) Coordinator; which may entail scheduling staff hours and lodging accommodations, designing and setting up displays, arranging for supplies and materials.
G. Supervise the DEC two Sign Shops. Coordinate funding for facility operation and oversee production consistent with Department needs. Serve as sign order and production manager and maintain and track inventory. Coordinate sign ordering; including clarification of orders and training DEC program staff on the capabilities and limitations of the Sign Shop.
H. Serve as a team member to provide Health Safety Training to Program and Division staff (including AED, CPR and First Aid training sessions). Coordinate and schedule regional staff training. Participate in the coordination and administration of water safety training and qualifying courses.
I. Develop, Manage and Administer Special Revenue Concession Contracts and other Program Supply Contracts. Ensure that the proper conditions, and reporting requirements are being met per terms of the individual contracts.
J. Administer and track annual Service and Commodity Peddler Permits. – Verify fees, insurance requirements and that the proper terms and conditions are included in the final distributed permits. Seasonally verify that vendors, regional managers and facilities are complying with the agreed to terms and conditions.

Additional Comments Must have valid driver’s license or demonstrate the ability to meet the transportation needs of the position. Must be able to negotiate difficult terrain, work in remote areas and in adverse weather conditions. Travel and overnight travel may be required. Overtime may be required. Weekends and holidays may be required. Must provide 24-hour response on a rotational basis and work during normal business hours.
