Candidates will be required to pass the NYS typing test prior to appointment. OHRM will schedule tests as needed.
Duties Description Under the direction of the Human Resources Specialist 2, the Secretary 1 must be able to perform the following essential functions:
Communicate effectively via telephone, in writing and/or in person with a variety of staff and other agency personnel.
Multi-task and prioritize assignments; organize workload and files.
Maintain confidentiality of information; exercise good judgment.
Use and navigate computer systems; learn, maintain and update skills in computer technology.
Ensure that clearance codes are provided accurately and timely to Admin and HR staff.
Utilize department software based PC applications to create, type, edit, proofread and format documents, memos and letters as well as to generate reports and maintain records as needed.
Maintain various tracking databases and utilizing the databases to prepare reports and provide information to internal and external customers.
Assist with the creation and tracking of performance evaluations and probation reports.
Perform other related clerical support functions and projects as required to support the work of the Personnel section.
Answer phone calls and respond to questions; refer calls requiring technical knowledge to appropriate staff.
Provide administrative support to OHRM Directors.
Meet Department time and attendance rules and regulations.
