Duties Description The duties of the Auditor Trainee/Senior Auditor will include, but are not limited to, the following:
-Perform research on the function to be audited to determine its purpose, organization, and the applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing its operation
-Perform a risk assessment of the function to determine its objectives, risks and controls
-Assist in establishing the scope of audit
-Assist in planning audit activities, including specific audit tasks
-Participate in entrance conferences with representatives of the function being audited to explain audit goals and methodology and gain access to records
-Conduct the audit by performing various tests, reviews, reconciliations and evaluations of accounts, claims, records and procedures
-Ensure that transactions are processed and properly accounted for and effective controls are in place
-Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of the organization in meeting its goals by reviewing program operations, comparing programs to standards or best practices; noting any relative strengths or weaknesses
-Evaluate the function being audited by comparing performance to contractual requirements and standards
-Prepare working papers to document audit scope, findings and conclusions
-Prepare narrative reports of audit findings and recommendations
-Discuss audit findings with representatives of the organization and participate in exit conferences

Additional Comments The position of Auditor Trainee/Senior Auditor is responsible for performing systematic examinations and appraisals of the System's operations to provide assurance that transactions, accounts and operations comply with governing laws, rules, and regulations; are managed efficiently and effectively within a system of sound and rational internal controls and that reliable information is provided.

Appointments to this job title require a two-year traineeship that starts at the Trainee 1, SG-14, and advances, after one year of acceptable performance, to Trainee 2, SG-16. After one year of acceptable performance as a Trainee 2, employees advance to the full performance, SG-18.

(Appointments can be made directly to the Trainee 2, SG-16 or to the full performance level, SG-18 if certain qualifications are met.)
