Minimum Qualifications Minimum qualifications for provisional appointment:
You must be a qualified employee of New York State and have had one year of permanent competitive or 55-b/55-c service in a clerical, keyboarding, or paraprofessional* title allocated to Grade 7 or higher. Qualifying titles are available on the Civil Service website. Only the titles listed are qualifying for appointment to this position.
*Only paraprofessional titles in an office environment will be considered qualifying. Service in a direct care title is not qualifying experience. Examples of non-qualifying titles are: Developmental Disabilities Secure Care Treatment Aide 1, Direct Support Assistant, Food Service Worker 1, Licensed Practical Nurse, Mental Health Therapy Aide, Security Services Assistant, Youth Division Aide 2, and Youth Division Aide 3.
Reassignment - Currently in the title and an employee of DEC
or
Reinstatement Eligible - Previously held the title on a permanent competitive basis or held a title as indicated under the transfer eligible section on a permanent competitive basis.
or
Transfer Eligible - One year of permanent competitive service at Salary Grade 12 or higher and:
Eligible for transfer under Section 70.1: Permanent competitive service as an Office Assistant 3, Office Assistant 3 (Calculations), Accountant Aide, Program Aide, Business Document Specialist 3, Data Processing Clerk 3, Energy Assistance Review Supervisor, Legal Assistant, Pathology Office Assistant 2, Payroll Examiner 3, Office Assistant 3 (Human Resources), Secretary 2. Also any language parenthetic for the above titles. Additional titles which qualify can be found on the Department of Civil Service website, search "GOT-IT."
Duties Description The Office Assistant 3 in Region 2 Operations reporting to the Regional Operations supervisor will be responsible for: Reviewing unit financial forms, maintaining accounts for Regional Maintenance and Transportation Service programs, compilation and preparation of financial data for budgetary purposes; Maintaining personnel records for both seasonal and permanent Operations personnel; Preparing and processing of contracting documents; Management and maintenance of office records; Reconciliation of credit card data for program purchases; other office duties as assigned.
