Minimum Qualifications Must be reachable on current University Police Communications and Security Specialist 1, SG-10 list or currently hold the title of University Police Communications and Security Specialist 1, SG-10 or a title from which transfer is appropriate. Must successfully complete a background check.

Duties Description University Police Communications and Security Specialist 1, SG-10, will provide communication services within the University Police Department at the campuses of the State University of New York. Their primary responsibility is to function as a desk officer, dispatcher, and 911 operator. In this capacity they may be required to operate radio receiver and broadcast equipment, telephone equipment, terminal equipment, personal computers, closed circuit television systems, and electronic security systems. Answer telephone, radio, and computer communications lines, dispatch mobile and foot patrols, maintain appropriate records, and operate data terminals. Answer questions for students, staff and visitors. They will maintain a variety of data bases and prepare and file a variety of reports and logs.
