Minimum Qualifications Candidates must be employed by New York State to be eligible to apply for this position.
Candidates must have permanent status as an Office Assistant 2, Grade 9, and be eligible for lateral transfer; OR be eligible to transfer via Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law by having at least one year of permanent service in a qualifying title within two salary grades of the Grade 9 level.
Duties Description The Office of Mental Health (OMH) is recruiting to fill an Office Assistant 2, Grade 9, in the Division of Forensic Services (DFS) Training Unit. DFS is responsible for managing, directing, overseeing and monitoring State mental health services to individuals involved with the criminal justice system, including: individuals with mental illness who are receiving inpatient, outpatient or community based services pursuant to Criminal Procedure Law (CPL) and Correction Law (CL); and sex offenders who are found to have a mental abnormality and confined to an OMH secure treatment facility, or released to strict and intensive community supervision and treatment, in accordance with Article 10 of the Mental Hygiene Law (MHL). The incumbent of this position will provide clerical support to the Forensic Training Unit, which coordinates, plans, and implements training for DFS, forensic hospitals, OMH Corrections-Based Operations SMIV initiative, and the sex offender civil management program. Specific duties to be performed may include, but are not limited to, the following:
Coordinate arrangements for meetings and training events; ensure appropriate materials and equipment are available.
Assist in the preparation of training events, including preparing handout folders, name tags, sign-in sheets, evaluation forms as well as proofing documents, preparing training material, and researching potential venues.
Assist in the coordination of training logistics, including onsite set-up, registration, and tear-down for local events as well as monitoring important deadlines and timelines associate with multiple, simultaneous events.
Assist in the preparation of needed documentation to secure social work contact hours.
Assist in the maintenance of SharePoint sites, including calendar of training events.
Respond to questions from training attendees, presenters, and vendors.
Compile and tabulate training evaluation data for the forensic training events, prepare a written report based on findings.
Additional Comments The Division of Forensic Services is conveniently located in independent offices on the grounds of the Capital District PC at 75 New Scotland Avenue, Albany, New York. Guaranteed covered parking with exclusive employee entrance to office areas is available for $5/month.
