Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be currently reachable on the Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming),SG-18 eligible list or eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer
To be eligible to transfer, interested candidates must have at least one-year permanent competitive service in a 52.6 qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description • Develop/Support web services to facilitate interaction between FileNet and other systems
• Develop/Support scanning applications using IBM Datacap and Java
• Develop/Support custom NYSLRS FileNet browser based image viewer applications using Java, JavaScript, and HTML
• Generate code for review by IT Specialist 3
• Work with business unit staff to develop comprehensive test plans
• Coordinate unit/system/acceptance testing with business unit staff
• Communicate status of assigned projects/tasks to immediate supervisor, including possible delays and potential problem areas, in a timely and accurate manner
• Maintain system documentation
• Work with business units to gather system/application requirements
• Analyze requirements in order to develop detailed design specifications for review and approval by the business unit staff
• Ensure business user requirements are met in the development of any applications
• Ensure that functional and technical designs are capable of integrating with existing systems and are developed according to standards
• Investigate and troubleshoot production issues
• Provide on-call/off-hours support – primarily for testing/upgrades
Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience with, Java, JavaScript and HTML (3 months to 1 year)
• Completed coursework in client server programming, object-oriented programming, and systems analysis and design (2 to 4 credits)
• Experience with developing program logic, performing program maintenance, and troubleshooting and debugging programs (3 months to 1 year)
• Experience with obtaining and preparing program specifications based upon business requirements (3 months to 1 year)
• Experience in both design activities and project management (3 months to 1 year)
• Experience with creating test plans, test conditions, and validating test results (3 months to 1 year)
• Experience integrating with DB2, SQL, Oracle or other external data sources
• Knowledge of or experience with FileNet P8 products would be advantageous
• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment
• Strong verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to interact with technical and business staff
• Ability to participate in all phases of the System Development Life Cycle
