Minimum Qualifications Interested candidates must be currently reachable on the Information Technology Specialist 2 (Programming), SG-18 eligible list or eligible to transfer under Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
52.6 Transfer
To be eligible to transfer, interested candidates must have at least one-year permanent competitive service in a 52.6 qualifying title allocated to salary grade 16 or higher.
Duties Description • Analyze mainframe COBOL, CICS, DB2 SQL, MVS JCL and IBM utilities.
• Analyze AS/400 RPG code, DB2 SQL and CL scripting.
• Provide complete analysis of proposed system changes.
• Create design documents and other related system documentation.
• Collaborate with business analysts and systems users to gather and refine system change requirements.
• Document test conditions based on code specifications.
• Code and debug mainframe COBOL, CICS, DB2 SQL, MVS JCL and IBM utilities.
• Code and debug AS/400 RPG code, DB2 SQL and CL scripting.
• Conduct technical walk-throughs of proposed system changes.
• Debug and fix reported defects and implement enhancement requests.
• Conduct unit testing and debugging of all code changes in a development environment.
• Conduct code reviews as assigned and recommend changes.
• Perform quality assurance testing of code changes as assigned.
• Provide production support for batch & online processing.
• Work closely with business analysts and system users on problem identification and resolution.
• Provide on-call support for after-hours batch processing as needed.
Additional Comments Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
• Demonstrated experience in developing the logic of a computer program based on design specifications (3 months to a year).
• Demonstrated experience in debugging/resolving program problems (3 months to a year).
• Demonstrated experience in a procedural language such as COBOL (3 months to a year).
• Demonstrated experience in COBOL (3 months to a year).
• Demonstrated experience in RPG (3 months to a year).
• Demonstrated experience in SQL (3 months to a year).
• Demonstrated experience in DB2 (3 months to a year).
• Demonstrated experience in JCL (3 months to a year).
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
