Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in plumbing under a skilled tradesperson which would provide training equivalent to that given in a training, apprenticeship, or equivalent program; or an equivalent combination of experience and training gained by completion of technical courses in skilled trades at a school, institute, or branch of the Armed Services.
Duties Description Under the supervision of the Regional Maintenance Supervisor, the candidate will be assigned to perform work primarily in the trade of plumbing throughout the Genesee Region and as assigned for special projects. Duties will include, but not be limited to: repairs, maintains and installs plumbing fixtures and appliances such as sinks, shower baths, commodes, drinking fountains, dishwashers, valves including pneumatic controls, gas and water meters, gas hot water heaters and other gas appliances, heating systems and controls, swimming pools and various steam equipment, kitchens, water pumps, underground water distribution systems and underground sewage pumping and distribution systems and equipment.
This individual would also need to be semi-skilled in rough carpentry work and will operate vehicles requiring a CDL Class “B” license and various pieces of large equipment throughout the region. Such equipment will include, but is not limited to, dump trucks, loaders, backhoes, excavators, bulldozers and trenchers. In addition, the incumbent will be required to do other semi-skilled trades work and repairs as assigned. Although the work is periodically inspected by the supervisor, the incumbents are expected to work with considerable independence as is typical of a journey level craftsperson. The incumbent will use hand tools, power tools, shop equipment, measuring and testing instruments appropriate for the crafts that are assigned.
Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
- Must possess a valid NYS Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) Class B, or obtain one within the probationary period at their own expense and must maintain the CDL license as a term and condition of employment.
- Must possess and maintain a valid NYS driver’s license as a term and condition of employment.
- Applicants shall be capable of equipment operation as specified above.
- Must possess or obtain a New York State Department of Health certification for Reverse Pressure Zone Backflow Prevention Device testing within the probationary period and must maintain it as a term and condition of employment.
- WORK SCHEDULE: Mon. - Fri. (Weekends may be required on an as needed basis)
- SHIFT: 7:00 am to 3:30 pm (may vary)
*Under the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (1991), this position has been designated Safety Sensitive. The candidate is required to participate in pre-employment, random and post-accident drug and alcohol testing.
