Minimum Qualifications Four years of full-time experience in a plumbing trade under a skilled journey-level position which would provide training equivalent to that given in an apprenticeship program. Apprentice training in a trade or training gained by the completion of technical courses in a trade at a school or institute may be substituted for the above experience on a year-for-year basis.

* Successful completion of the traineeship and the training program includes a total of 288 hours of trade-specific class room instruction, 45 hours of technical math course work, 45 hours of technical communications course work, and 15 hours of blueprint/schematic reading course work. Course work must be completed with an average of ?C? or better. Additionally, successful completion of the traineeship also includes 4,000 hours of on-the-job training.

Duties Description Under the supervision of the Regional Park Maintenance Supervisor, the incumbent will function in the primary trade of plumbing. The incumbent will be responsible for water supply system maintenance and repairs along with drain waste and vent pipe repairs for residential, commercial and historic structures. The incumbent must be able to work with old and new methods of pipe fitting and consult on long lasting and cost-effective methods and materials. The candidate must have a working knowledge of various lift station styles and operation as well as drainage infrastructure. The candidate must also be able to diagnose and repair boilers and furnaces as it relates to the plumbing trade such as pumps, tanks, valves and operation.

Additional Comments OPERATING NEEDS:
• Work schedule is Monday through Friday 7 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. but may vary on as needed basis.
• Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Drivers’ License as a term and condition of employment.
• Must have working knowledge of safety regulations pertaining to materials used and safety regulations pertaining to fall protection.
• Must have the physical ability to perform medium to heavy lifting.
