Minimum Qualifications *Must be physically able to perform heavy lifting on shore as well as from the platform of a boat.

*Weekly, mandatory travel to lakes throughout New York State is required.

*Must possess and maintain a valid NYS Drivers License as a term and condition of employment.

Duties Description Under the direction of the Navigation Aids crew supervisor, the Buoy Crew Assistant will assist in maintaining the NYS statewide navigable buoy marker system, which plays an important role in providing critical safety information to boaters. The incumbent will provide critical assistance to the crew supervisor in the completion of buoy placements in the spring and removal in late fall. The incumbent is also responsible for maintaining buoys and all equipment needed to haul, place, remove and repair navigational aids for the public waterways in NYS.

Additional Comments *Boating experience or work in a marine environment is preferred but not required. If candidate does not have a New York State Boating Safety Certificate, they will be required to obtain one.

The duties will be performed in rain or shine and the incumbent must be prepared to endure boating conditions that can include choppy water as well as cold and wet weather.
