Job Specifics

Duties Description The Assistant Director of SUNY Procurement Development and Engagement ("Assistant Director") will support the Director for SUNY Procurement Learning and Development within SUNY's Office of System-wide Procurement and System Collaborations. In this role they will support engagement, information sharing, and organizational alignment across SUNY's 64 campuses and SUNY hospitals.

The Assistant Director will report directly to the Director of SUNY procurement Learning and Development and be responsible for aiding the Director in ensuring a singular and strategic voice for procurement across the SUNY system, developing and delivering training and development programs that build procurement capacity across the system.

The primary areas of responsibility for this position include, but are not limited to:

Supporting the successful strategic direction of the Chancellor and SUNY Board of Trustees in the area of excellence in system-wide procurement
Supporting the development and execution of procurement training programs, workshops, and professional development initiatives
Supporting organizational change management through stakeholder outreach initiatives and engagement

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Translating complex procurement policies, procedures, and initiatives into clear and accessible language for diverse campus audiences,
Developing and maintaining supporting digital resources including Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs), guides, toolkits, promotional materials, web content, procurement opportunities, and informational content
Supporting the development of digital engagement strategies to improve awareness and participation in procurement initiatives and training opportunities
Supporting the development of procurement training programs, including but not limited to webinars, conferences, and system-wide convenings
Supporting outreach to strengthen collaboration among campus procurement professionals and SUNY leadership
Supporting system-wide procurement initiatives and organizational change efforts
Serving as a liaison to campus procurement officers and stakeholders to facilitate understanding and engagement

Minimum Qualifications Required Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in business administration, journalism, English, or related field
10 Years experience with demonstrated success in large or complex organizations. A bachelor's degree may count as four years' experience
Exceptional writing, editing, and presentation skills with the ability to translate complex subject matter for diverse audiences. Three diverse writing samples must be submitted
Proven ability to manage cross-functional initiatives involving multiple stakeholders across a large, decentralized organization
Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in business administration, journalism, English, or related field
Experience in higher education, healthcare, public sector, or government communications
Familiarity with SUNY system operations, campus structure, and New York-centric State / local government,
Experience in building and executing efficient training functions or teams
Experience supporting transformation initiatives, including new operating models or system-wide process changes
Proficiency with digital content management systems and multimedia content development

Additional Comments - Salary is dependent on a variety of factors, including but not limited to, experience, education, training, and certifications.
