Minimum Qualifications License to practice medicine in New York State OR possession of a limited permit and licensure in another state or by written examination in Canada. AND Certification in Psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology. AND Eligible for full and unconditional participation in the Medicaid and Medicare programs.


Duties Description As a member of a clinical treatment team in a residential facility for youth, the Psychiatrist 2 is responsible for the psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment of youth who have been identified as suffering from an emotional disorder. Treatment may include psychopharmacological approaches, as well as non-somatic therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy and dialectical behavior therapy and other evidence-based treatment approaches. Responsible for completing the psychiatric section of the youth’s treatment plan and record. The incumbent is expected to work closely with the physicians who are responsible for the youth’s physical health. Consults with the other members of the treatment team and may meet with family members. Actively participates in discharge planning, including making recommendations for post-discharge treatment, including medication. Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.
