Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:
Currently registered NYS licensure to practice as a Nurse 1 or 2.
Duties Description This candidate will be responsible for providing oversight to sites located in the Sunmount DDSO catchment area. Specific responsibilities include annual nursing assessments, development of plans of Nursing according to diagnosis, health management profiles, annual oral motor assessments, annual SAMs, recertification of Amap, monitoring of health needs of consumers at assigned houses, participation in the ITT process, in-service training of staff, administration and supervision of effective infection control procedures, and direct provision of a wide range of nursing interventions. Make sure consults are ready for appts., providing information to health care providers, following a consistent systemic approach to assure appts. are not missed. Assuring staff and consumer’s PPD testing is up to date.
Selection Criteria:
Candidates will be expected to demonstrate and will be evaluated against the following criteria:
Ability to perform duties outlined above.
Possess an acceptable work record (e-file).
Experience in supervision or knowledge of effective supervisory
practices. Ability and willingness to work with multi-handicapped including
programmatic, therapeutic, health-related, and other group
activities.
Effective nursing skills including ability to accurately administer
medications and strong health assessment skills.
Ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies.
Ability to formulate and implement plans for health
teaching/counseling of consumers and training of staff.
Possess understanding of active treatment as well as experience and
active participation in an interdisciplinary treatment team.
Additional Comments Must have the ability to adjust work hours to meet the operational/supervisory needs of the worksite in accordance with Article 32 of the PS & T contract.
All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.
