Minimum Qualifications The ideal candidate will have experience developing complex Visual Basic applications and the ability to program in a multi-tier environment. Experience with writing C++ and Java is preferred. Candidate must possess strong analytical, problem solving and organizational skills, as well as the ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite products, especially Access and Excel, is required. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and the ability to deal directly with the end-user, are necessary.
Duties Description The Medicaid Fraud Control Unit (MFCU) of the Office of the New York State Attorney General is seeking an Applications Developer specializing in Visual Basic and .Net applications to work in its Electronic Investigative Support Group (EISG) based in Rensselaer. The EISG manages a statewide network, consisting of 8 regional offices, and supports a 20+ terabyte data warehouse which is used by attorneys, auditors and investigators in the investigation and prosecution of fraud and abuse.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
• Assume primary developer responsibility for maintaining and enhancing existing, multi-tier, custom querying application written in Visual Basic 2008 (v. 9) on the .Net Framework that is a front-end querying tool to a SQL Server 2008 data warehouse. Query tool includes an Access module and Outlook component used to deliver result sets to end users.
• Participation in the cross-training of other personnel in order to ensure redundancy in the applications environment.
• Analyze, design, test and write Visual Basic source code as required to implement new applications, as well as support existing applications.
