Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: One year of competitive service as an Associate in Professional Education; OR be reachable on the Civil Service eligible list for Associate in Professional Education.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department is seeking applicants for the position of Associate in Professional Education in the Office of the Professions’ Division of Professional Education. Under the direction of the Supervisor of Professional Education Programs, duties will include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Evaluate proposals for new professional education programs and changes to existing programs to ensure compliance with applicable sections of the Education Law, Regents Rules and Regulations and the Commissioner’s Rules and Regulations;
• Conduct all activities resulting from proposals requiring amendments by the Board of Regents to an institution’s charter, certificates of incorporation or master plan;
• Conduct program registration reviews and site visits to post-secondary institutions in connection with professional programs;
• Perform in-depth reviews of professional education program materials from institutions/programs that have been determined “at-risk” and prepare reports of findings and recommendations;
• Communicate with SED personnel, institutional and system representatives, students, legislators and other parties as appropriate and necessary;
• Handle complaints related to professional education programs from faculty and students;
• Perform special assignments as requested.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent appointment.

*Salary leads to $97,632 through annual performance reviews.
