Minimum Qualifications Required to have two years of satisfactory experience in maintenance, construction or landscape work; preferably in public recreational facilities. General knowledge of plumbing, electrical and automotive maintenance and some minor carpentry experience preferred. Must have and maintain a valid motor vehicle operator's license.
Must be able to traverse rough terrain, work in remote locations in extreme weather conditions, climb ladders and work in and around water. Candidate will be responsible for handling and accounting for all monies, ie. Petty cash, camping permits, day use ticket sales, etc. Must be capable and willing to operate a personal computer for accounting purposes in compliance with NYS Finance Law. Additionally, the candidate will have complete working knowledge of the Outdoor Recreation Management Suite (ORMS) and the Campground Revenue Reporting System (CRRS). Ensure that LATS are submitted and approved by the Friday after end of pay period.
- Must be able to safely pilot a boat on Lake George including at night and during inclement weather. Ideal candidate will have working knowledge of Lake George including locating state owned campsite islands, day use areas and navigational markers. Must be willing to communicate using proper radio etiquette.
Duties Description The incumbent is responsible for the entire operation of a large facility, including subordinate staff. Be required to conduct themselves in an ethical and professional manner as the face of the agency for visitors to our recreation facilities providing customer service that will enhance the public's stay. Candidate must live at the campground during period of employment without exception and must be willing to work undefined hours, ensuring continued operation of the facility. Work hours and work days may vary depending on daily duties. Must work weekends and holidays and will be required to work through Labor Day weekend as a term of employment. Must be willing to respond to emergencies at the facility regardless of the time; day or night. Must be willing and able to do manual work in the park such as, but not limited to, lifting trash cans chest high, using rakes and shovels, operating push lawnmowers, leaf blowers and grass trimmers. Must be willing to clean restroom facilities and assist and manage operation of recycle stations within the campground in accordance with state, county and town laws. Must be willing and able to read and understand the Campground Operations Manual and perform all functions defined within, being able to speak clearly and communicate with others; which will include enforcement of rules and regulations. Willing and able to supervise employees ensuring staff understand and carry out duties in a timely manner with consideration to the safety of all employees.
