Minimum Qualifications Requirements For Appointment At Each Level:
For Teacher 2/SG13: New York State provisional/initial/conditional initial certification in the appropriate specialty;
For Teacher 3/SG15: New York State permanent/professional certification in the appropriate specialty;
For Teacher 4/SG17: New York State permanent/professional certification in the appropriate specialty and two years of post-certification (conditional initial/provisional/initial or permanent/professional) teaching experience in the appropriate specialty area.

Duties Description Completes a Special Ed profile and develops an individualized program plan with identified goals for each SNU inmate, maintains educational records and reports, prepares curriculum, course outline and lesson plans, and periodically reviews, tests and evaluates the acedemic progress of SNU inmates, provides a variety of appropriate instructional opportunities based on student needs, capabilities and issues that include developmental disabilities, maladaptive behaviors and is an active member of the SNU treatment team, participates in SNU community and treatment team meetings and assists with person-centered planning activities.

Additional Comments Requirements for continued employment: Possession of a permanent/professional or provisional/initial/conditional inital NYS certificate in the appropriate specialty is necessary for continued employment. Loss of certification will result in termination of employment.
