Minimum Qualifications Qualifications:

Transfer: Currently a permanent full/half-time Nurse 1 or 2. Simultaneous to this posting the appropriate civil service list may be canvassed. Management reserves the right to select either an eligible respondent to this posting or appoint from the Civil Service list.

Duties Description Duties:

Specific responsibilities include nursing assessment, development of detailed nursing care plans, participation in the ITT process, in-service training of staff, administration and supervision of effective infection control procedures, and direct provision of a wide range of nursing interventions.

Selection Criteria:

Candidates will be expected to demonstrate and will be evaluated against the following criteria:

1. Ability to perform duties outlined above.
2. Possess an acceptable attendance record as specified in the
CNY DDSO Time and Attendance Manual.
3. Possess an acceptable work record (e-file).
4. Experience in supervision or knowledge of effective supervisory practices.
5. Ability and willingness to work with multi-handicapped including programmatic, therapeutic, health-related, and other group activities.
6. Effective nursing skills including ability to accurately administer medications and strong health assessment skills.
7. Ability to respond effectively to medical emergencies.
8. Ability to formulate and implement plans for health
teaching/counseling of consumers and training of staff.
9. Possess understanding of active treatment as well as experience and active participation in an interdisciplinary treatment team.

Additional Comments Must have the ability to adjust work hours to meet the operational/supervisory needs of the worksite in accordance with Article 32 of the PS & T contract.

All OPWDD employees must be eligible and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in the Medicare and Medicaid programs. Continued employment will depend on maintaining eligibility.

Important note: the candidate selected to this position is advised that it will be their responsibility to discuss any previously approved time off with their new supervisor. There is no guarantee the new unit will be able to honor previously approved time.
