Salary RangeFrom $13.27 to $13.27 Hourly
Minimum Qualifications Must be 16 years of age; possess current certification in American Red Cross Lifeguard Training or equivalent; possess current certification in the American Red Cross Waterfront Module or equivalent; possess a certificate in American Red Cross CPR for the Professional Rescuer or equivalent; successfully complete a practical examination administered by NYSDEC or NYSOPRHP in Lifesaving and CPR skills; a minimum of 20/70 uncorrected vision is required in both eyes and be correctable to 20/40; successfully complete a personal interview with NYSDEC staff; attend Lifeguard orientation prior to each year of employment.
Duties Description Lifeguards are responsible for guarding the area to which assigned or reassigned; understanding the rules and regulations which apply to NYSDEC swimming areas and ensuring those rules and regulations are observed by people using the bathing facility; preventing accidents and effecting rescues; maintaining a high level of physical and mental fitness by participating in an active in-service training program; making detailed written reports to supervisors on all accidents and rescues; performing other duties as assigned in inclement weather; all tasks are to be conducted in a safe manner, with any injuries/illnesses reported immediately to supervisor.
Additional Comments Work hours and schedule will be discussed at the interview. This is a seasonal position with a duration of 4/30/15 - 9/15/15.
