Minimum Qualifications The incumbent shall possess at least nine years of IT network project experience, including a minimum of one year of supervisory experience and demonstrated team leadership. A bachelor’s degree in IT or engineering related field may substitute for up to 4 years of experience.

Duties Description This position is with the UniteNY project which is in its initial implementation phase. Under the direction of Manager Data Processing 2 Technical Services, the position is responsible for leading the design, integration, implementation, and maintenance of existing and future UniteNY systems including routers (including routing protocols such as BGP, OSPF, RIP); switches (including spanning tree, LLDP, VSS and link aggregation); firewalls (including VPN tunneling); traffic shapers (including network traffic prioritization, QOS, and queuing); enterprise wireless solutions (802.11 AB/G/N,WPA, AES, 802.1x); voice and video conferencing solutions.

The incumbent may install new products and assist in the migration to new releases or version of products and provide related education. All duties are performed in adherence with ITS policies, procedures and standards, and include:

• The design and support a multi-vendor network environment (Juniper, Cisco, Nortel) that supports over 500 remote locations
• Configuring and maintaining routing including the use of RIP version 2, OSPF, and BGP
• Implementing and supporting WAN technology including Frame-Relay, Point-to-Point circuits, and bonded circuits
• Implementing and supporting LAN technology including Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), Spanning Tree, Link Layer Discovery Protocol (LLDP), and link aggregation
• Designing, implementing and supporting firewalls solutions including the use policies and Virtual Private Networks (VPN) design
• Supporting advance switching and routing including the use of (VSS) Virtual Switching Systems
• Designing, supporting and configuring SSLVPN, client and clientless VPN solution
• Performing network integration with business partners using appropriate secure network solutions
• Implementing network security solutions including but not limited to Intrusion Prevention and Detection, and Network Access Controls (NAC)
• Designing, implementing, and maintaining of enterprise load balancing solutions
• Maintaining records of system changes and upgrades. Also maintaining records of problems and resolutions for future analysis.
• Reviewing existing system performance and recommending changes to improve performance.
• Reviewing and recommending network operating system patches and upgrades.
• Providing 7X24 hour support for all network system products and procedures.
• Providing assistance in the development of project policies and procedures.
• Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships at all levels within the assigned unit and across organizational boundaries.
• Working effectively within a project team environment.
• Providing off-shift support as required
