Minimum Qualifications A Bachelor’s or higher level degree and eight years of progressively more responsible management experience, at least five years of which must be in a field related to environmental conservation, protection, or natural resources. This experience must include responsibility for implementation of program goals and objectives within established budgets and supervision or coordination of staff to achieve specific objectives.
Duties Description Incumbent provides administrative direction and supervision over all environmental conservation programs and personnel within the regional boundaries. Establishes priorities and procedures for scheduling and performing field operations based on immediate needs, consistent with Department plans and priorities, in the program areas of fish and wildlife resource management, lands and forests management, regulation of mineral resources, implementation of pure waters, air resources, solid and hazardous waste and pesticide control programs, region wide community relations, and legal programs. Supervises, coordinates, and assists the field staff in carrying out the previously mentioned programs. Incumbent defines the delegation of responsibility, authority and accountability of his/her subordinates’ work within the field structure. Reviews and approves enforcement orders and permits and other agency approvals in the name of the Commissioner. Establishes and maintains relationships with local public and private planning, conservation, and environmental groups or organizations. Incumbent develops plans and procedures for administering new programs in the region, as directed by the Commissioner.
