Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have a Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture, or New York State registration and license as a Professional Landscape Architect. To be considered for appointment, candidate must be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service List from the current eligible list. In the event that a viable eligible list does not exist, a provisional appointment may be made in accordance with Civil Service Law. Candidates who accept a provisional appointment must take the next competitive examination and be reachable on the eligible list for that title or their employment in the position will end. 1. Your degree must be awarded by a college or university with a Landscape Architectural Accreditation Board (LAAB) accredited curriculum, or by a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable practices. 2. If your degree was awarded by an educational institution outside of the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency, in writing, to the NYS Dept. Of Transportation, Att: Linda DeFazio-Ahmed, Hunters Point Plaza, 47-40 21st Street, Long Island City, NY 11101. Graduates of a CSLAAC accredited curriculum do not need to submit any independent verification of equivalency.

Duties Description The incumbent will be responsible for the duties described in the Department of Civil Service Classification Standard for Junior Landscape Architect, SG-15. Details will be discussed during the interview. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the Department’s response to regional and statewide emergency situations.
