Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1. Currently be employed by New York State as a permanent or contingent permanent Social Work Assistant 3, OR in a title eligible for 70.1 transfer, OR

2. Reachable for appointment on the Civil Service list.

FOR PROVISIONAL APPOINTMENT
Candidates must possess a Master’s Degree in Social Work; or, a Bachelor’s Degree in Social Work and one year of post-Bachelor’s experience in social work; or, a Bachelor’s Degree or higher in a human service area and two years of post-Bachelor’s experience in social work. A degree in a human service area includes the professional disciplines of occupational therapy, physical therapy, psychology, social work, speech/language pathology, audiology, nutrition, and therapeutic recreation (including art, dance, drama, music, and physical education). Also included are related academic disciplines associated with the study of: human behavior (e.g., human services, sociology, speech communication, gerontology); human skills development (e.g., education, counseling, human development); humans and their cultural behavior; or any other study of services related to basic human care needs (e.g., community mental health, rehabilitation counseling).
Your degree or college credit must have been awarded by a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the NYS Education Department as following acceptable educational practices. If your degree or college credit was awarded by an educational institution outside the United States and its territories, you must provide independent verification of equivalency.

Duties Description This incumbent is responsible for working with families who are interested in obtaining OPWDD services. The worker will be responsible for completing the EAA tool, DDP 2 and PISP/Addendum, work with MSC agencies in developing plans for individuals interested in services, and compose letters for the FD process to go to agencies and families. Additionally, the person would be responsible for providing training and information sessions to students, families, schools, agencies, etc., on OPWDD’s Front Door and the availability of services.
