Minimum Qualifications Applicants must have a minimum of five (5) years of medical malpractice and trial experience. Trial experience and the ability to manage a large caseload are essential. Superior lawyering skills, including legal research, writing, analysis, negotiation and advocacy, are also required. Candidates should also possess excellent organizational skills.

Duties Description The Office of the New York State Attorney General’s Claims Bureau in New York City is seeking an experienced trial attorney for its Medical Malpractice Section. The Claims Bureau represents the State of New York and its agencies in the Court of Claims and its employees in State Supreme Court. The selected candidate will defend the state in medical malpractice actions, from commencement through trial, with post-trial briefs often required.

Additional Comments Salary to be determined commensurate with experience.

Applicants must reside in (or intend to soon become a resident of) New York State and be admitted to practice law in New York State. In addition, the Public Officers Law requires that attorneys in the Office be citizens of the United States.
