Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Senior Administrative Analyst OR one year of permanent competitive or 55b/c service in a title SG-16 or above deemed eligible for transfer under §52.6 of the Civil Service Law OR for appointment to the Administrative Analyst Trainee 1, candidates must have one year of permanent competitive service as an Administrative Aide or Agency Program Aide or in a title SG-16 or above deemed eligible to transfer under §70.1 of the Civil Service Law OR be reachable on the Professional Careers Opportunities (PCO) eligible list; OR be reachable on the Education Department’s Public Administration Trainee Transition (PATT) eligible list. Appointments from PATT or PCO require completion of a two-year traineeship.

Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions (OP) is seeking to fill a Senior Administrative Analyst position in the Deputy Commissioner’s Office. Under the direct supervision of the Executive Coordinator, the Senior Administrative Analyst assists with a variety of administrative assignments. Duties of this position will include, but not be limited to:
• Assisting OP leadership in identifying and solving administrative and management problems hindering the effective and efficient operation of the office.
• Providing analysis and addressing critical needs and responsibilities for a variety of projects and time-sensitive assignments by planning and implementing systems to ensure the effective operation of the day-to-day administrative activities of the program office;
• Conducting research and on-going system reviews, including analyzing data, preparing justifications, and formulating reports and recommendations to facilitate efficient program office operations, including preparation of detailed, written procedures, and training of staff when changes are implemented; and
• Coordinating the office’s internal control functions, developing and implementing record keeping systems and controls, overseeing the utilization of fleet vehicles, and administering the office’s budgetary/ financial processes and purchasing activities.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a contingent permanent appointment. The salary above applies to candidates appointed to Senior Administrative Analyst, SG-18. The hiring rate for candidates appointed to Senior Administrative Analyst Trainee 1 starts at $39,720 and, for current NYS employees, is based on the candidate’s salary at the time of hire. Candidates hired into the traineeship will be advanced to Senior Administrative Analyst upon successful completion of a (two) year traineeship.

*Leads to a maximum salary of $66,494 based on annual performance advances.
