Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Candidates must have one year of permanent non-competitive or 55b/c service as a Senior Professional Conduct Investigator OR two years of permanent competitive or 55b/c service as a Professional Conduct Investigator OR seven years of experience in the investigation of complex cases leading to criminal trial and administrative proceedings, which must include conducting investigations and interrogations, writing reports on assignments, and testifying at administrative hearings or criminal trials. Substitution: A Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice, Police Science, or a closely related field may be substituted for four years of experience. Applicants will be required to provide proof of degree if qualifying under “Substitution”. Duties Description The New York State Education Department’s Office of the Professions is seeking applications for a Senior Professional Conduct Investigator position to work in the Office of Professional Discipline’s (OPD) Rochester Regional Office. Under the supervision of OPD management and the regional supervisor, the Senior Professional Conduct Investigator will investigate allegations of violations of statutes, rules or regulations by licensed professionals. Other duties include, but will not be limited to, the following:

• Investigating unlawful practice of a profession by an unlicensed person, the moral character of an individual seeking licensure, or the background of former licensed professionals who are seeking reinstatement of their professional licenses;
• Preparing detailed investigative reports of the activities undertaken pursuant to his or her assignments and maintaining the chain of custody with respect to evidentiary items;
• Assisting other program areas within OPD; and
• Performing administrative tasks delegated by the unit supervisor.

Additional Comments CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: This will be a permanent non-competitive appointment. Filling of this position is contingent upon Division of Budget approval.

*Salary leads to $66,494 through annual performance advances.
