Minimum Qualifications Candidates must have a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, a valid New York State Professional Engineer License, hydrologist certification or comparable credentials, and four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in the application of water and soil conservation engineering or coordination of water management activities as they relate to hydropower, irrigation, and recreational use of inland waterways systems. A valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State is also required.
Preferred Qualifications: An understanding of hydrologic, hydraulic, and forecast modeling systems is preferred; modeling experience with Mike Customized software from DHI, and working hands-on experience with database and computer systems are a plus.

Duties Description Supports the Canal Corporation’s comprehensive water management program; oversees all facets of the water management program and attendant issues such as navigation, water supply, and water quality as it impacts the canal system, serves as liaison to numerous regulatory agencies, water users, state and local governments and various organizations and community-based special interest groups; provides strategic and tactical direction for the development and ongoing maintenance of a flood warning system, currently under development.
