Minimum Qualifications Must have and maintain a valid driver's license. Must have two years of satisfactory experience in maintenance, construction or landscape work preferably in public recreation facilities.
Preferred qualifications:
Certified in CPR, AED, First Aid and or Wilderness First Aid.

Duties Description The purpose of the Outpost Caretaker is to provide an administrative presence in the back country locations for the protection of natural resources and public safety. Outpost caretaker responsibilities include maintenance of the outpost, maintenance and upkeep of the surrounding working circle, such as trails, privies and lean-tos. The outpost caretaker would sometimes be the first responder to emergencies in the back country. The caretaker should be able to provide first aid and CPR if needed. The outpost caretaker would also provide public education and would assist the Forest Rangers with search and rescue details. Will be required to navigate mountainous terrain in all types of weather; respond to emergencies at all hours of day and night; navigate trails on snowshoes and back country skis; use an axe, bow saw and chainsaw. Will also be required to interact with the public.

Additional Comments This is a seasonal position with a duration through 3/31/16.
Winter schedule, if needed, would consist of 8 day work schedule switching with the other caretaker on Sundays. Work schedule and length of position to be discussed at interview.
