In this role, the AAA3 is responsible for a variety of activities in three major program areas: Affirmative Action, which consists of special recruitment efforts for protected class members (minorities, women, persons with disabilities and Vietnam-era veterans) and other activities to increase representation and remove barriers that limit the professional development of protected class members; Equal Employment Opportunity, which consists of activities to ensure an agency’s compliance with federal and State equal employment laws and guidelines with regard to personnel practices, policies and procedures; and Diversity Management, which consists of activities to promote an inclusive, respectful and equitable work environment by assessing organizational culture and barriers to diversity and planning and implementing initiatives to create positive organizational changes conducive to diversity. In performing these duties, the incumbent will develop and revise policies, procedures, and guidelines as necessary. The AAA3 will investigate and resolve discrimination complaints ensuring that complainants are informed of their rights and options available to pursue such complaints.
