Minimum Qualifications
One year of permanent competitive service as an Associate Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor or a Senior Vocational Rehabilitation Counselor or in a title eligible for transfer pursuant to Section 52.6 of the Civil Service Law.
OR
Bachelor’s degree and five years of full time paid professional experience in the direct provision of vocational, rehabilitation, educational or counseling services to physically or mentally disabled clients, including the following specialist experience:
A. Two years of the experience must have been gained in meeting client needs primarily through utilization of a network of public and private community agencies and organizations AND
B. Two years of the experience must have involved full responsibility for supervising professional staff, including assigning work and monitoring and evaluating staff performance.
Duties Description Direct, supervise and coordinate all programs and services in a district office of the Commission for the Blind and Visually Handicapped. Programs and services include rehabilitation counseling, mobility and rehabilitation instruction, children’s services and community services.
Oversee the fiscal management of the district office, and maintain good community relations.
