Minimum Qualifications Possession of a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, plus six years of experience in the practice of medicine, two years of which must be in an administrative or supervisory capacity. Appointee must maintain full licensure and registration to practice medicine in New York State after appointment. Appointee must be eligible for and maintain eligibility for full and unconditional participation in Medicaid and Medicare programs and must maintain eligibility after appointment.

Appropriate certification by an American Medical Specialty Board and one year of post certification experience in that specialty can be substituted for four years of general experience.

Duties Description Plan, direct and supervise overall health and medical service programs statewide for the Office of Children and Family Services, Division of Juvenile Justice and Opportunities for Youth (DJJOY). Provide policy and program direction to agency medical, dental, nursing and nutrition programs statewide; deploy resources to meet the medical, dental, nursing and nutrition needs of the DJJOY facility population; oversee the operation of agency medical, dental, nursing and nutrition programs; support recruitment of professional staff for DJJOY facilities and their subsequent professional development; establish and maintain productive collaborative relationships with other State agencies in support of OCFS medical, dental, nursing and nutrition services programs; and manage the Bureau of Health Services. Additional duties will be discussed in detail during the interview.

Additional Comments Preferred Qualifications: Certification by the appropriate Medical Society Board in pediatrics, family practice (or family medicine) and internal medicine. Prior experience as a Medical Director or high-level clinical manager.
