Minimum Qualifications One year of experience in environmental education programs; or one year of college study with specialization in natural science, natural resources, or environmental education.
Duties Description The Division of Lands and Forests, Public Lands Access Unit is seeking an individual to help coordinate the Division’s compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). The primary duties of the position will consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
• Assisting staff with obtaining the most current and accurate information necessary to meet policy objectives. This includes research of applicable rules, regulations, and standards, as well as official guidance and changes to current mandates that may affect the provision of programs and services to people with disabilities.
• Providing advice to staff on the planning and design of sites and accommodations for individuals with various types of disabilities to enable participation in Lands and Forests programs.
• Working with regional staff to identify and improve access opportunities across all Lands and Forests program areas.
• Assessing the level of accessibility to various Lands and Forests programs on a state-wide basis to serve as “self-evaluation.”
• Participating in the Unit Management Planning (UMP) and other planning processes to ensure that accessibility needs are addressed.
• Assisting in the development of accessibility guidance documents for staff.
• Other duties as assigned.
Additional Comments This is a temporary position with a duration of 6/1/16 - 3/31/17.
Duration may be extended if funding is available.
