Minimum Qualifications Possession of a valid license and registration to practice dentistry in New York State, and two years of full time post licensure dentistry experience.
Duties Description Do extractions, restorations, prosthetics, root canal therapy, prophylaxis, and limited periodontics; administer local anesthesia; examine and chart the dental condition of patients; take and interpret dental x-rays; perform oral surgery; treat oral diseases and infections; and administer emergency treatment to patients. Where appropriate the dentist may provide oral hygiene instruction.
As a Dentist 2, you would have responsibility, usually under the advisory direction of a higher ranking dentist, for the regular examination, treatment and complete dental care of patients in a state facility. You may be the only dentist in a very small facility.
