Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in agronomy, agricultural business management, agricultural engineering, agricultural science, animal science, conservation biology, environmental engineering, environmental studies, environmental science, environmental conservation, plant science, forestry, geography, or a closely related agricultural or natural resources discipline, which includes either 12 semester hours in soils, plants, and crops or 12 semester hours in farmland protection, regional and/or land use planning, or geography;
and
Two years of experience, one of which must have been directing the work of professional or technical staff, in a position having a substantial relationship to agricultural land use analysis, soil and water conservation management, or the protection of farms and farmland resources.
Duties Description Under the direction of the Division’s Principal Environmental Analyst (Agriculture) G-27, the incumbent will provide program and technical support as it pertains to the delivery of the State’s Agricultural and Farmland Protection Program as authorized under Article 25-AAA.
Specific duties include, but are not limited to:
• Reviews technical documents associated with grant awarded projects including purchase agreements, appraisals, title insurance, survey documents, monitoring agreements, baseline reports etc.
• Manages program contract files.
• Assists local project managers with delivery of conservation easement projects including field reviews.
• Reviews final reports associated with conservation easement projects.
• Analyzes data and prepares comprehensive technical reports associated with farmland protection planning and implementation topics.
• Educates and provides technical services to public entities and land trusts.
• Develops technical tools and Request for Proposals as authorized by state statute.
• Reviews and provides comments on written agreement and contracts.
• Works cooperatively with the Departments Counsel and Finance to ensure prompt contracting and timely payments.
• Develops presentation, charts and other outreach media in support of program goals.
• Authors correspondences, program guidance documents and other related material as needed.
• Collects and manages publically available program data.
• Performs research and produces reports to aid the advance program goals.
• Prepares stakeholder meeting summaries and assists in the development of the annual report.
• Preforms Other Duties as assigned
Additional Comments This is a temporary, hourly appointment. Actual work schedule, duties, travel requirements and length of temporary appointment will be discussed at the interview. The recruitment for this position will be ongoing until the position is filled.
