Minimum Qualifications EDUCATION & REQUIREMENTS:
Education level required: Bachelor’s degree; advanced degree preferred

Equivalent Experience required: 4+ years in public relations and communications management or related field; proven track record in media relations. Broad range of public relations, marketing, government relations and business relations experience is essential, as well as experience in supervising diverse and creative teams of employees.

Knowledge Required: Strong writing skills; understanding of NYS/NYC media; understanding of basic economic, business and governmental issues.

Duties Description BASIC FUNCTION:
The Deputy will help develop and execute strategic communication plans for ESD. Serve as agency spokesperson responding to media inquiries.

WORK PERFORMED:
•Work closely with EVP of Public Affairs and staff responsible for public and media relations at ESD and the Executive Chamber to develop strategic communication plans for ESD.
•Responsible for preparation of briefing materials; communications and public affairs of subsidiary corporations, major projects and all ESD programs and services.
•Work with ESD leadership and Executive Chamber and ESD Public Affairs staff in carrying out event-related assignments including preparing remarks, event planning and briefings for the President & CEO.
•Serve as agency spokesperson proactively “pitching” stories and responding to media inquiries
•Attend media events such as ground-breakings, openings, news conferences and general announcements
