Salary RangeFrom $53339 to $53339 Annually
Minimum Qualifications Bachelor’s degree AND 6 months of experience in examining one of the following:
Rent regulated rental histories; Patterns of fraudulent documentary submissions; Auditing experience
OR 4 years of experience in one or more of the above listed areas
A master’s degree may be substituted for the experience
Preferred candidates will be fluent in a language other than English
Duties Description Under the general direction of the Deputy Commissioner for the Tenant Protection Unit (TPU), the incumbent will:
- Collect and disseminate evidence of landlord fraud and systemic non-compliance. Review data, analytical reports, agency case files, agency databases, other municipal databases, and open source material;
- Analyze and investigate Individual Apartment Improvement (IAI) claims by owners by analyzing rent records (including rent rolls, contracts, invoices, receipts, work orders, mortgages, municipal approvals, and deeds) and preparing correspondence to owners based on findings, and determining steps to finalize investigations;
- Collaborate within a team of auditors, paralegals, investigators, inspectors and attorneys;
- Communicate with landlords, their managing agents, tenants, and tenant advocated regarding tenant complaints and TPU initiatives;
- Develop specifics regarding the planning, development of analytical methods, study procedures, and methods of presentations;
- Consult with information technology staff in developing and maintaining the agency’s infrastructure necessary to carry analytic functions.
Additional Comments This is a Temporary Position, (ends Nov. 30, 2017) in the DC37 Bargaining Unit, receiving all of the associated benefits.
Additional $3,026 in location pay, annually.
