Minimum Qualifications Currently serving as a permanent Psychologist Assistant 3, Psychologist 1 or 2 and eligible for transfer; OR
Reachable on the Civil Service List for Psychologist Assistant 3, Psychologist 1 or 2; OR
One year of permanent competitive service in a title eligible for transfer under Section 70.1 or 52.6 of the NYS Civil Service Law.

For Provisional Appointment:
Psychologist 1 or 2: you must have a master of psychology degree from a regionally accredited college or university which prepares graduates for master’s level psychologist positions in clinical, forensic, or community mental health settings and the degree program must have included an externship or practicum. In addition, candidates must have had appropriately supervised post-master’s degree experience in a clinical, community mental health setting, or forensic setting providing primarily psychological services as follows:
Psol 1: one year of supervised post master’s degree psychology experience. Psol 2: two years of supervised post master’s degree psychology experience.

Psychology Assistant: you must have been awarded a master of psychology degree from a regionally accredited college or university psychology degree program, which prepares graduates for master's level psychologist positions in clinical, forensic, or community mental health settings. Qualifying degree programs must have included coursework in diagnostic psychological and behavioral assessment tools and treatment modalities for psychological and behavioral disorders. You must indicate the major field of study on the application form.

Duties Description • Provide psychological services to individuals who live in Individual Residential Alternative facilities.
• Develop, implement and monitor behavioral plans for individuals with maladaptive behavior. Plans to develop ADL and other self-help skills may also be needed for certain individuals.
• Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team and attend meetings for case review and residential habilitation.
• Develop and present individuals cases to various review committees (HRC, ICC) for their approval.
• Participate as a member of the Psychology Department. This includes attending monthly meetings and performing special assignments, as directed. These include risk assessments, competency evaluations and credibility assessments.
• Perform routine psychological assessments such as intelligence testing and measures of adaptive behavior.
• Other duties and responsibilities assigned by the supervisor.
