Minimum Qualifications Two years of experience in the structural trades of carpentry, painting and/or masonry, under the supervision of a journey level trades person or completion of an appropriate two year technical school course. Applicants must be physically able to perform the duties assigned. Must possess and maintain a valid New York State Driver’s License.
Duties Description Assist in the maintenance, installation and repair to building structures and surfaces typical to the structural trades. Assist journey level tradespersons in the areas of demolition and remodeling, carpentry, drywall installation, masonry construction and repair, painting, minor HVAC, electrical and plumbing repair, basic vehicle and equipment repairs, fuel handling, collect and transport trash and collectables. Assist with road work and grounds work including snow removal and lawn mowing as needed.
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
• Ability to perform moderate to heavy manual labor as appropriate to the trades.
• Ability to climb ladders and work at heights on scaffolds and platforms, and stand, stoop, bend and stretch for long periods of time.
• Working knowledge of methods, materials, tools and equipment used in the structural trades.
• Working knowledge of safety standards and procedures.
• Ability to read plans, specifications and manuals.
• Ability to carry out written and oral instructions and communicate with supervisors, co-workers and customers.
• Ability to supervise others.
• Ability to use the tools, machines, equipment, and materials of the trade or trades to which assigned.
• Ability to operate a motor vehicle.
Additional Comments OPERATIONAL NEEDS: Must be available to work Monday thru Friday, 7:00 AM – 3:30 PM. This is a full time position based on a 40 hour workweek. Maybe required to work overtime based on operational needs.
• Must possess and maintain, a valid CDL-Class B Driver’s License, with airbrake endorsement without restriction OR have the ability to acquire within six months from hire date.
• The successful candidate will be subject to the provisions of the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act (OTETA) which require a pre-employment, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, random, and return to duty tests.
