Minimum Qualifications Qualifications: Formal qualifications are not filed for this position. The following may be considered minimally acceptable: Admission to the NYS Bar and extensive and progressively responsible experience in the practice of law, a substantial portion of which must have been in the field of banking, financial services, or regulatory law at a level appropriate to the executive level.

Duties Description The Department of Financial Services (DFS) is seeking applicants for the position of Deputy Superintendent of Banks to assist the Executive Deputy Superintendent of Banking with regulatory and supervisory issues related to all operating units within the Banking Division. Duties include, but will not be limited to, the following:


• Assist in implementation of the Superintendent’s goals and objectives for the Banking Division.

• Assist with establishing policies, procedures and appropriate supervisory actions relating to all the operating units of the Banking Division.

• Review and advise on New York State laws, rules, regulations and policies and procedures of DFS which may affect financial institutions regulated by the Banking Division and keep informed on regulatory changes as they may impact such institutions.

• Review laws, rules, regulations, policies and procedures of federal or other regulatory authorities which many affect financial institutions regulated by the Banking Division.

• Assist with DFS’s efforts in coordinating with other regulatory agencies.

• Participate in Conference of State Bank Supervisors (CSBS) Committees relevant to the Banking Division.

• Develop a collaborative working relationship with other divisions within DFS.

• Advise Executive Deputy Superintendent of Banking on all matters falling within the scope of assigned responsibility and make necessary recommendations.
