Minimum Qualifications For Permanent Appointment:

Candidate must be a licensed engineer and be reachable on the appropriate Civil Service list or eligible for transfer.

Titles approved for transfer under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law are: Associate Building Construction Engineer, Civil Engineer 2, Public Health Engineer 2, and Senior Building Construction Engineer.

The titles of Environmental Engineer 2 and Environmental Engineer Civil 2 are approved for 70.1 transfer, but the candidate must possess a Professional Engineer license and current registration.

For Provisional Appointment:

Possession of a New York State Professional Engineer license and current registration; OR

Possession of a Professional Engineer’s license and current registration from a State or Territory of the United States. Candidates qualifying under this option must secure a New York State Professional Engineer’s license and registration prior to appointment.

Duties Description The Senior Park Engineer serves as Project Manager to subordinate inspection staff on projects designed and engineered by consultants. The candidate will perform professional engineering work in the planning, design, or technical review of drawings and related details for the creation, construction, rehabilitation, or restoration of building and facilities; may supervise assistants in engineering work; coordinate the services of engineers on specific projects; perform technical reviews of consultants' drawings, specifications, and reports; ensure compliance with applicable requirements, and provide advice and guidance to individuals and groups involved with the project.

Additional Comments Candidate should have knowledge and experience using AutoCad, and Microsoft Word and Excel. Additionally, the candidate should be familiar with review of contractor schedule of values, schedule Gantt chart, OSHA, Department of Labor, NYSDEC, SEQR and SHPO processes, regulations of hazardous materials, laws governing accessible facilities and barrier free design; possess knowledge of sanitary and wastewater collection and treatment; and understand the principals of Land Surveying and be able to interpret contour maps and develop cut and fill calculations.
