Minimum Qualifications Four year degree in technical theater and design and one year of experience in the operation of complex lighting and sound systems at a large performing arts facility.

Duties Description Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
• Serve as Operations Supervisor for the Convention Center. Oversee all technical and labor staff scheduling for both permanent and hourly call-in employees. This includes regular work shifts as well as evening and weekend time frames.
• Provide schedule for staff two weeks out. Ensure staff coverage and skill levels are adequate to meet the intricate needs of each program held in the Convention Center.
• Responsible for all operations staff time cards, payroll and overtime documents. Maintain an ongoing record of hourly employees’ hours worked. Insure information documented is accurate; all documents are submitted bi-weekly and by established deadlines. Records are maintained for reference purposes.
• Meet with clients and event coordinators to review technical equipment and support service needs for Convention Center events. Discuss and oversee all outside audio and lighting equipment rentals that may be required for an event. Cost estimates based on clients’ requirements are established prior to their program; necessary equipment is made available; designated staff are able to properly operate all equipment.
• Design all lighting plots for events taking place in the Convention Hall and Meeting Room 6. Supervise all lighting instrument hanging, circuiting and focusing; conform outside lighting plots into a working lighting plot for the Convention Hall. Supervise and/or provide hands on programming and operation of the Convention Center lighting board. Ensure that lighting designs are professional and in keeping with the nature of each program, staff skilled in the operation of lighting equipment are assigned to carry out the assignments as directed, and that designated staff are trained on the operation of the lighting board during downtimes.
• Supervise and/or assist with the setup and operation of all furnishings and audio equipment in the Convention Hall and Meeting Rooms 1-7. Ensure that all required audio equipment is properly placed and functioning for each program and technicians assigned to operate the equipment are skilled in audio and able to make adjustments as necessary.
• Design and maintain a running inventory of all audio and lighting equipment; ensure all items are tagged and recorded as required. Oversee labor inventory (tagged and recorded) and discuss recommendations for replacements and maintenance programs with labor staff and management. Ensure that all equipment is tagged and all relevant information recorded. Schedule and implement maintenance programs on a consistent basis to ensure equipment is repaired, upgraded and/or replaced as necessary.
• Act as on-site coordinator for evening and weekend programs as needed; perform miscellaneous tasks as required. Must have basic knowledge of the facility, client’s program and related needs; is accessible and able to work with all staff members to ensure the smooth execution and success of the event.
