Minimum Qualifications PROVISIONAL QUALIFICATIONS: A Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university or one recognized by the New York State Education Department as following acceptable education practices or a DOL employee with one year of permanent competitive, 55b/55c or labor class service in a title allocated to G-9 or higher.

Candidates with one year permanent competitive service or the completion of a traineeship in one of the following titles may qualify for transfer to Labor Services Representative, Grade 16:
Employment Counselor, SG 18
Labor Services Representative (parenthetics), SG 16

Supervising Labor Services Representative, SG 20
Candidates with one year permanent competitive service or the completion of a traineeship in one of the following titles may qualify for transfer to Labor Services Representative Trainee 2, eq. Grade 14:

UI Reviewing Examiner, SG 16
Candidates with one year permanent competitive service or the completion of a traineeship in one of the following titles may qualify for Transfer to Labor Services Representative Trainee 1, eq. Grade 13:

Duties Description As a Labor Services Representative (SL), you would assist customers and provide a broad range of services to jobseekers and employers both on an individual basis and through group presentations. You would interview customers to evaluate the nature of services desired, obtaining a complete work history including job experience, education, skills, salary ranges and job preferences. You would identify barriers to employment and develop solutions to these barriers. You would provide information on resources available through the Department of Labor.
